We are today taking a look at our next Antec product, the TruePower Quattro 1000W Modular Power Supply. It is the big brother for the TruePower Quattro 850W.

This power supply comes in a stylish white box which only gives us limited information on the front. It says that it is the TruePower Quattro power supply that it holds, that the PSU is ready for dual graphics cards and that it should be quiet as well as it is 80 PLUS certified.

This means that the TruePower Quattro power supply must be at least 80% energy efficient, otherwise it doesn’t save mother earth ;) Well actually it means that our power supply consumes about 33% less energy than man equivalent power supplies with the same power output.

If we turn the package around and take a look at the back we find a short description of the product as well as showing us what kind of cable connectors we can find in the package. The backside also tells us about the 80 PLUS certificate.

Opening up the package reveals the power supply and modular cables, power cord, screws and the short manual. The TruePower PSU is well packaged with styrofoam all around it.

We can see that our power supply is covered with racing stripes and a large oval bubble that tells us, if we forget, they number of watts we can pull out of the product. Rest of the product is black and on one side we also have the Antec logo embossed into the metal, very nice.

The front of our power supply, well where the fan is situated and where you plug your power cord into the unit, is clean and features the fan, power cord connection and a beautiful little power on/off button, which can be very handy if you’re an overclocker or modder.

A low noise fan guard is in place and my personal opinion is that these are both much better looking and more quiet in operation than the ones that are pressed out of the metal box. Only one fan in this power supply, should do it for a quiet power supply.

On the side of the power supply we also find the information sticker which tells us information about accepted loads and max wattage load. This power supply is also ok to be used both with 100 and 240 Volt.

We also find that we have four separate +12V lines.

At the back of our power supply we find the modular cable connectors as well as the thick cable stem which holds the ATX20/24, EPS12V, ATX12V and 2x 6+2 PCI-E connectors.

The modular cables include 2 extra PCI-E connectors, 8x SATA, 9x Molex and 2x Floppy connectors, they are however not marked in either end. Other than that they are colour coded.

All cables are covered with braided plastic mesh sleeving and both looks great and ease the cable management work.

On next page we will take a look at the performance of this beast.
