Today we have the pleasure to test a new notebook cooler from Vizo, this time with a slightly different design then the previous ones we have tested.
This new notebook cooler we are testing is named Ninja HS.
It comes in a colorful package, like all the other products from Vizo. Well shown on the package is the product itself and the regular information about it.
The Ninja HS is based on, like the earlier models, two fans that are movable sideways. New with this cooler is that you can change the position vertically as well, not by much but enough to hit those hotspots under your laptop.
Like the mini Ninja 2 this cooler also comes with a USB hub on its right side, but can be bought without it for those who would like to save a little bit on the weight or if your computer can’t handle it anyway.
Also you can power up this cooler with a separate power supply, not included, if your computer can’t handle to power up the fans or if you would like to have it separate anyway.
For those of you who would like to use it right on without any separate power supply, you just connect the USB cable that is included in the package.
As you can see this cooler has a slightly different design than the earlier models and it needs to be assembled. Though, Vizo has been kind enough to provide us with a tool free product, they have included thumbscrews. Great solution!
All screws that you need to handle are thumbscrews, to get the product assembled with the stands and also on the fans.
On the earlier models we saw the mesh over the fans to protect the fans from for example cables from the laptop or fingers that you don’t have control over when you put it onto the cooler. New with this version of the Ninja we can see fan guards on the other side of the fans as well; finally we get that last protection that makes these products perfect!
Compared to the earlier versions this cooler is a bit larger, but with all the free space between the stands you get even better cooling as the hot air more easily can travel away from your computer.
Another comparison is the temperature one, compared to the earlier mini Ninja 2.
The laptop I’m using uses the following components.
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core TK-55 @ 1.80GHz
- 2GB Ram
- 120GB Western Digital 5400rpm
- Graphics nVidia MCP67m, 15” widescreen
- Windows Vista Home Premium
Without any laptop cooler my computer has an exhaust temperature of 44 degrees Celsius in idle, doing just nothing than showing the wallpaper on the desktop.
When loading the cpu to 100% we get a temperature of 76 degrees Celsius.
Now its time for some cooling and when we tested the mini Ninja we got a decrease of about 4 degrees in idle, meaning 40 degrees. In load we got a decrease of 3 degrees, so it was pretty much a steady decrease and we landed on 73 degrees Celsius.
With the Ninja HS we get an even further decrease from the original 44 degrees Celsius in idle we get down to 39 degrees, which is 5 degrees. In load we got a 4.5 degree decrease and we get a load temperature of 71,5 degrees Celsius.
All temperatures were measured on the back of the computer from the exhaust of the CPU, energy settings were set to full which gives the best possible performance.
This means that correctly configured you will have a cooler computer, not by very much, but with every degree you can lower it with you make sure it lasts longer. Also make sure to keep your computer clean and that there is no dust bunnies around the fan.
Together with the contents of the Ninja HS there is also a short manual that gives you the power to assemble the product without any failure at all.
All in all, this is a great improvement by Vizo.
Long wanted fan guards, better cooling and overall just a great product.
I would like to thank
Jill at
Vizo for sending over this product for test on our site.
