So let’s have a look at some pictures from the camera.
First out we have an image from the interface with the camera picture shown. This is taken through a window on our backyard. I know it’s a really boring place, but hey it’s a calm and friendly place ;)
The cloudy weather did not do anything good either.
Focus has been set to make the picture as good as possible on the houses.
Following is a picture taken as a snapshot with the camera, pretty much the same but without the interface around it.
I’ve also compiled a short video for you to have a look at, it is recorded with the auto patrol function at medium speed. The video is hosted at Youtube.
After these few demonstrations I must say that, of course the image quality could be better, but for being a network camera with very fast response times the quality is outstanding. You can clearly see people in the stream, it also does keep the image updated very well even with lots of movement.
The camera has been tested both on the same network and over the internet between two different internet service providers with the same good results.
Finally I would like to show you a picture of the SecurView software that comes with the camera on the CD. It can handle up to 16 cameras on screen at once and you can also switch pages so I guess the software can handle more cameras than that.
Remember though that you would need a powerful computer to be able to watch that many streams at once. Furthermore the software has lots of features, just like the web interface. You can also choose to enable recording on all cameras at once, see the motion detection on selected cameras and control the cameras in other ways.
One thing I really miss is the possibility to keep the arrow buttons pressed and get a continuous movement. I was not able to get this working and I’m not sure if the software or the cameras are made for this. Perhaps in the future?
Also I did not manage to move the camera by clicking on the image for the stream in the SecurView software to move the camera, like you can with the web interface LiveView. Perhaps also a feature to implement in the future?
On next page we’ll take a look at my conclusion regarding the TV-IP422 from TrendNet.
