Today we’re having a look at the Swift-RX mousemat from Cooler Master, in size L. They have different sizes for these mats and we have the XL version waiting for a review soon to come as well.
First off, the package is very matte but stylish. On the side there are both the specifications but also a sample of the mat itself cut out and glued to the box. Hopefully, it’s not from the actual mousemat inside the package!
It feels quite smooth and it should be as the specifications mention a smooth, low friction synthetic fibre surface which should give an optimal comfort. Furthermore it features a microscopic mesh which should enable precision control for optical as well as laser sensor mice.
The most obvious difference to most any other mousemat is that the edges are stitched, which in the long run prevent both that the fabric itself curls up and gets loose from the rubber base, but also so that the fabric doesn’t fray. This should make the mousemat a lot more durable through extended usage.
The back of the mousemat is obviously rubber, as most mousemats since the beginning has featured this, for one quite simple reason – so that the mousemat doesn’t dance away under your mouse.
Swift-RX comes in a few different sizes ranging from Small to XL. The L version has a size of 450 x 350mm with a thickness of 3mm or for you American folks 35.4 x 14.17inch with a thickness of 0.12inch.
It’s quite a simple review for sure, but we do need to do some testing. We have two mices on our testbench at the moment. Roccat Kone+ and Cooler Master Mizar, unfortunately two laser mice but I have no doubt in that the mousemat will let optical mices do their best as well.
We conduct the tests by using our mice over a couple of days in different environments, ranging from regular computer usage to gaming. We have the ability to change the resolution of the laser sensors to make sure we can use as much precision as we would like.
During these days when we have tried both mice in all sorts of environments we couldn’t find ourselves with the mousepointer on screen stuck or jumping around due to bad tracking of the surface. During all tests the mousemat let both mices run over it without any problems at all.
The texture feels very smooth and kind to the human skin and the stitched edges gives a kind of warning that you’re getting close to the edge which is perfect. I have high expectations for the stitched edges and I do believe that the Swift-RX will keep what it promises, a longer durability.
All in all, it is a perfect mousemat with just the perfect size for me. But keep in mind, it might be either too small or too large for others and therefore there are other sizes to choose between, generally with mousemats there is no “one size fits all” type, so it’s an excellent choice by Cooler Master to offer more than one size.
The price for the Large version of the Swift-RX lands around 22€ EURO, USD $25 or SEK 219kr – a very reasonable price for such a great mousemat. Highly recommended!
I would also like to thank Cooler Master for sending out the product for review.
